Overview and Papers

My research focusses on Kant's philosophy. In the dissertation I ask this basic question: Are aesthetic judgements subjective or objective? What does Kant mean by 'subjective' and 'objective'? Presuppose Transcendental Idealism. Subjective judgments are mind-dependent while objective judgments are object dependent. My preliminary answer is that they are both and that Kant suggests a novel kind of dependence relationship. A judgment can depend existentially on an object, while it's content and truth-evaluability depend on features of the mind. I defend the plausibility of this view and show how it emerges out of i) a change in Kant's theory of matter ii) a change in Kant's notion of imagination. Out of my engagement with Kant emerges an interest in new metaphysical idealism, questions surrounding explanation and causation, some begrudgment when thinking about an unrestricted PSR and a good deal of enthusiasm for systems of thought.
